Nancy Wilson (jazz singer) was born to Olden Wilson, the Chillicothe ironworker on 20 February 1937. The mother of her child, Lillian Ryan worked as a household servant. Nancy was the oldest of six children. Her father was a musician and would play records at home. It had a huge influence in her early years. As a young girl she was already able to establish an idea of who she was as well as what she hoped to accomplish. The choir at church encouraged her to develop her talent. In her early teens and had a chance to win an audition on television and began appearing on The Skyline Melodies Tv Show while still in High School. Around the same time, she began to work in nightclubs. When she graduated from high school, aged 17 Nancy matriculated for one term at Ohio's Central State College now Central State University before leaving and becoming an accomplished singer. In 1956, she recorded her debut album along with Rusty Bryant's Carolyn Club Big Band. The group toured with Rusty Bryant throughout 1956 until 1958. Nancy made her debut album on Dot Records during the time she spent in this band. Cannonball Aderley suggested she relocate in New York so as to increase her chances of success. In 1959 Nancy made the move in The Big Town. After just a few days the manager of Adderley was impressed by her voice and hired her. Agent Adderley signed her to Capitol in the year 1960. Her debut was that year. Guess Who I Stopped Today. Capitol Records released 5 Nancy Wilson albums over a time span of 2 years. Her first album was focused on R&B however, under Adderley's influence, she embraced jazz. Nancy Wilson, Cannonball Adderley as well as their 1962 partnership helped her reach the top. She had her breakthrough smash Tell Me the Truth by 1963. Following that year, she received an invitation to perform at the New York's Coconut Grove, the most sought-after club in America.

Ellie played her role in the short film of 2013 Americano and Rum. In 2015, she was the character of Korr Sella in the film Short Wars: Force Awakening. Then she was cast as Chloe Winthrop, in Netflix's original movies The Kissing Booth Season 2/3.
