Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. She is currently the president and owner-controller of the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. A California native Buss was raised in an affluent family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was a real estate tycoon, and later the manager of Lakers, among other businesses. She felt abandoned emotionally as her parents divorced in 1972. At the age 19 she became the General Manager of Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis team. The team was later renamed the Los Angeles Blades professional roller hockey team. Before she became vice president of the Lakers, she served as president of the Great Western Forum. Buss, her five sisters and brothers, as well as their father who owned the Lakers and ruled them until the time of his passing away in 2013, received the ownership via a trust. The five siblings were entitled to equally the right to vote. Buss assumed the position of the president for Los Angeles Lakers. Los Angeles Lakers.
